Disney Interactive is changing as we speak. It has now left the console space – abandoning its premiere product, Disney Infinity, and is focusing its efforts on mobile gaming.

 

Disney has a long history, going back more than 20 years, of trying to establish a foothold in the video game space. From a financial and market share perspective, the efforts have not been very successful.

 

Yet Disney executives will not give up, as they have long seen interactive gaming as a kind of holy grail -- a world where everyone is playing Disney games on their phones every day – as this signals a deeper engagement between consumers and the Disney stories and characters.
